I’m a ‘forever foster’ lad because I came to BTRF with Copper Toxicosis. Because I have Copper Toxicosis, I will stay with my foster mum forever and my amazing care team will keep a very close eye on me to make sure I stay well.
Doogal is nine years old and he came into the care of BTRF because his owner could no longer keep him.Doogal’s owner was sad to let him go but knew it was best for him.
Doogal is a real chilled out ‘cuddle bunny’ who is very happy when he has a lap to jump onto for a fuss! Doogal needs to have regular three-monthly blood tests to see how well his liver is coping with the Copper Toxicosis.
Doogal has a very special team of vets advising and looking after him because they know a lot about the condition he has. He also needs a specially formulated diet, medication and supplements to support his liver.
Your support will help pay for Doogal’s on-going vet bills, his regular blood tests, medication and specialist food whilst he lives his very best life with BTRF in foster care.

Happy 4th Foster Gotcha Day!
Today, 20th September 2024 Doogal celebrates his 4th Foster Gotcha Day with BTRF and his amazing foster carer.
Let's ask him what sort of a day he has had??
Hi all! I have been totally spoilt today! Lots of treats (well of course they are permitted treats as I am on a very special diet!) and cuddles. My foster mum knows just how lucky she is to have me and of course I know how lucky I am to have her and BTRF to panda to my every whim!!
Thank you for sponosring me too because without the specialist treatment and constant veterinary monitoring I have I wouldn’t be as fit and healthy as I am today. Now I am off to enjoy the rest of my special day!
Big hugs to you all

Hi all, Doogal here – one of BTRF’s forever foster dogs. I have that awful condition that us Bedlingtons can suffer from - Copper Toxicosis - so I will stay in BTRF’s care forever!
Well, it’s official – I am doing good!!!
I had to have my usual blood tests just recently and my lovely ‘Dr Vet’ confirmed that not only was I continuing to do really well but considering I have this nasty condition, my bloodwork and liver tests are absolutely ‘spot on’.
It’s all down to the amazing diet and supplements that Dr Charley put together for me and of course the very special care I get from my foster mum! She loves me so much and takes the best care of me and checks in Aunty Kaye every evening to let her know how I am and what sort of day I have had. Any signs that I might be under the weather, and she is on it straight away!
Thankfully that doesn’t happen very often, and I am living my best life with a foster mum who takes good care of me and BTRF who makes sure I get regular checks to see that my liver is behaving itself.
Also, a HUGE thanks to you all for your donations, which enable me to have my regular essential vet checks (they are not cheap – coming in at well over £200 every 3 months!). Without your support I would be a very sick Beddie, that’s for sure – so THANK YOU’
Paw hugs

Hello Everyone - I have some great news to share with you all – I know it has made my forever foster parent (and Aunty Kaye) very happy!!
As you know, I am BTRF’s Copper Toxicosis lad. I came into their care three years ago now, affected by that horrible condition that some of us beddies can get and because I need very special care I will stay with my foster mum forever. I have to have a very special formulated diet that Mum prepares for me and regular bloods taken to make sure my liver is behaving itself. I am quite the star when I go to the vet – everyone there knows me well and loves me lots!
Well, the good news is that I had my bloods taken last week and the results are back – THEY ARE ALL SPOT ON! So, no changes to anything at the moment. That meant I could enjoy Christmas and all the presents that Father Christmas left under the Christmas Tree for me.
I hope you all had a Happy Christmas and thank you all for your donations. The cost of my care is not to be sniffed at, but BTRF make sure I get that care so that I can stay well and happy.
If you feel you can drop a few pennies into the BTRF pot this year, me and my other forever/long term BTRF foster buddies would be very grateful. It’s really easy to donate through CAF Donate and if you are able to Gift Aid it too it means we get an extra 25% at no cost to our supporters

Thank you for your continued support and a very Happy New Year everybody!
